Looking through varuius news websites at the moment and there is a common thread. NOt only aRE THERE NO "cheap" mortgages available, but there are simply less and less mortgages available full stop.

In the Guardian they say that building societies are now only lending to 1 in 10 people! That's mad!

Some lenders are now not even offering new business!! Cheltenham & Gloucester are now not offering new mortgages to new customers. Existing customers are dropping onto the standard variable rate as their fixed rate deals expire.
